New Delhi, Jan 17 (NationPress) Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) revealed its inaugural battery electric vehicle (BEV) SUV, named 'e VITARA', alongside a range of electric eco-solutions at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 here.

This vehicle is constructed on a new electric vehicle (EV) platform known as ‘HEARTECT-e’, featuring two battery choices: 49kWh and 61kWh, promising over 500 km on a single charge, according to the company's announcement.

In a bid to position India as a global hub for EV manufacturing, the e VITARA will be sent to over 100 countries, including crucial markets such as Japan and Europe, as highlighted by the company.

The price for this electric SUV, which will be available in 10 colors with four dual-tone options, is expected to be disclosed later.

The prominent automaker intends to attract customers to BEVs through a three-pronged approach.

“The first step is to create a BEV-specific platform for optimal performance. The second involves developing the right product for targeted markets based on consumer needs. Finally, we aim to utilize our global economies of scale and centralize manufacturing at one location for the world,” stated Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President of Suzuki Motor Corporation.

“India has been selected as the global manufacturing base because of its high-quality products and scalability, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Make in India,” he added.

This electric SUV features an integrated display system, a twin-deck floating console, a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, sliding and reclining rear seats, and advanced safety technology.

Standard across all variants are seven airbags (including a driver-side knee airbag) and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), along with 60 features.

As per Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the e VITARA is equipped with efficient battery packs to achieve over 500 km with the 61kWh option on a single charge.

“We have integrated numerous premium and advanced features into the e VITARA, such as Level 2 ADAS, an Integrated Digital Display, and Next-Gen Suzuki Connect,” he noted.

In preparation, the automaker is establishing 1,500 EV-enabled service workshops across more than 1,000 cities, staffed with specially trained personnel and equipment to handle all EV-related support, including charging.

The e VITARA will be progressively introduced across NEXA dealerships nationwide, as announced by the company.
