New Delhi, Jan 24 (NationPress) The ‘Startup India’ initiative has reached a milestone of 10 years, and on Saturday, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal shed light on several significant events from the past two weeks that garnered global attention. The 10th anniversary of ‘Startup India’ was celebrated with a major event in Delhi on January 16, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, startup founders, innovators, and budding entrepreneurs.
“This day is commemorated as National Startup Day, and we also announced the results for the 5th edition of the States’ Startup Ranking Exercise and the National Startup Awards,” Goyal mentioned in a post on X.
PM Modi emphasized that the youth of India is dedicated to addressing real-world challenges while celebrating the 10-year journey of the Startup India mission. At Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, he praised the country’s startup founders and innovators for paving their own paths and enhancing India’s global reputation.
Goyal also conducted a fruitful meeting with David Eby, Premier of British Columbia, Canada.
“Our discussions revolved around fortifying the India-Canada economic partnership, enhancing trade and investment cooperation, and investigating collaborations in sectors such as critical minerals, manufacturing, clean energy, technology, education, defense, and innovation,” the minister stated.
The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) recently celebrated the seventh anniversary of its ‘Womaniya’ initiative, aimed at bolstering the involvement of women-led Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in public procurement.
During this event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Women’s Collective Forum (WCF) to enhance institutional support for women entrepreneurs.
Additionally, the Regional Office of APEDA has been inaugurated in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, positioning the state as a significant hub for agricultural and processed food exports. Goyal noted that the state has substantial export potential across a variety of products, including rice, fruits, vegetables, and forest produce like Mahua.
Furthermore, the first-ever air shipment of three GI-tagged products from Karnataka—Nanjangud Rasabale Banana, Mysore Betel Leaves, and Indi Lime—has been successfully exported to the Maldives.
“This signifies yet another stride in India’s unwavering endeavors to enhance agricultural exports, support farmers, broaden market access, and promote our GI heritage on the international stage,” the minister remarked.
