States Should Utilize Public-Private Partnerships to Achieve Green Logistics Objectives: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) To advance green logistics in the nation, states are encouraged to utilize public-private partnerships to attract investments aimed at city and regional logistics initiatives, alongside enhancing last-mile connectivity, according to Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry.

The minister stressed the importance of executing strategies to foster green logistics, ensure workforce inclusivity, and support central government initiatives, noting that the integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics is essential for achieving greater future outcomes.

During an event in the national capital, where he unveiled the “Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) 2024” report, Goyal highlighted the need for skill enhancement to elevate the logistics sector.

“The nation should focus on gender inclusivity and promote the increased involvement of women in the sector, while states should leverage public-private partnerships (PPPs) in logistics to enhance success,” he emphasized.

He further urged states to explore multi-modal hubs for inland container depots and to make land available through a bidding process to encourage transparency and reduce costs.

The logistics sector is encouraged to adopt the LEAD frameworkLongevity, Efficiency, Effectiveness, Accessibility, Accountability, and Digitalisation of processes—to transform the logistics landscape and prepare India for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, according to the minister.

Goyal also pointed out the importance of the ‘LEADS 2024’ report in providing actionable insights for states and union territories to promote logistics reforms.

He praised the collective efforts of all participants in establishing logistics as a crucial driver for India’s economic advancement. “Logistics must aim for exponential growth for India to progress swiftly,” the minister remarked.

Additionally, the minister introduced the PM GatiShakti Course at GatiShakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), a comprehensive 15-hour course on the “PM GatiShakti Concept for Efficient Infrastructure Planning and National Development”.
