Mumbai, Dec 23 (NationPress) Tata Motors revealed on Tuesday that it has achieved a significant milestone in India’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape, with over 2.5 lakh TATA.ev vehicles now on Indian roads. This accomplishment showcases the company’s robust leadership in the rapidly expanding electric passenger vehicle sector.

This milestone arrives at a crucial time when electric vehicles are transitioning from a niche market to a favored choice among Indian consumers.

Tata Motors has been instrumental in this transformation. Since introducing its inaugural mass-market electric vehicle, the Nexon.ev, in 2020, the company has progressively broadened its market reach.

The Nexon.ev also made history as the first electric vehicle in India to surpass one lakh total sales.

Currently, Tata Motors represents approximately 66 percent of all electric passenger vehicles sold in India, indicating that nearly two out of every three EVs on the roads are from Tata.

The company’s EV lineup includes the Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev, and Harrier.ev, catering to various price ranges and vehicle styles.

Additionally, Tata Motors provides the XPRES-T EV for fleet operators, making electric mobility attainable for a diverse customer base.

Regarding this milestone, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited, stated that reaching 2.5 lakh EV sales signifies that electric mobility is becoming an integral part of everyday life in India.

“Customers are increasingly confident in their EVs, recognizing them as their primary vehicles,” he remarked.

“Tata’s EV journey extends beyond mere car sales; it encompasses creating a comprehensive ecosystem to facilitate India’s shift to clean mobility, supported by government initiatives, suppliers, charging partners, and customers,” Chandra added.

A crucial aspect of Tata Motors’ EV strategy has been enhancing charging infrastructure. TATA.ev currently has access to more than two lakh charging points nationwide, encompassing home, community, and public charging facilities.

The charging aggregator includes over 20,000 public charging locations, and 100 MegaCharging Hubs with fast-charging capabilities are already operating along major highways and urban corridors.
