Chennai, April 15 (NationPress) The production team behind director Karthik Subbaraj’s highly anticipated action entertainer ‘Retro’, starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde in leading roles, has unveiled their final comic strip series ahead of the film's release. This comic series highlights the incredible efforts of the film’s technicians who have been laboring diligently behind the scenes, yet remain largely unrecognized.
In their ongoing initiative to share humorous and memorable moments from the set of ‘Retro’, the production company, Stone Bench Films, along with Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, launched the last comic strip titled ‘EPI:010 Offscreen Magicians of RETRO!’ on their X timeline.
The series kicks off by introducing production designer Jackie, affectionately referred to as “The Set Magician”.
“Our production designer doesn’t merely construct sets; he brings entire realms to life. Even when the director suggests stopping, Jackie continues to enhance the scene. His extraordinary effort ensures that every frame is visually stunning. He is the true star behind the art direction,” they noted.
Next, the spotlight shone on dance choreographer Sherif Master, dubbed ‘The Dance Wizard’.
“The #Kanimaa hook step transcended mere dance; it felt like an enchanting spell that captivated audiences worldwide. Sherif Master doesn’t just demonstrate dance moves; he infuses magic into every performance. People began to dance without even realizing it,” the producers shared.
Following this, art director Mayapandi was acknowledged as ‘The Design Magician’.
“He may be soft-spoken, but his work speaks volumes. Whatever vision the director has, he transforms it into reality with his unique creativity. He is Pandiyaa’s most trusted ally and a true master of production design,” they expressed.
Editor Shafique Mohamed Ali received praise as ‘The Edit Wizard’.
“He operates with the speed of scissors and the agility of lightning. He expertly cuts and joins scenes, bringing enchantment to the screen. His focused approach ensures a seamless narrative flow,” they noted.
The team also acknowledged stylist Pravin, recognized as ‘The Style Illusionist’.
“Though he may be reserved, his fashion creations speak volumes. Thanks to him, Suriya’s jacket has become a significant trend. With just a few stylish enhancements, he elevates everything. He is the understated star of fashion,” the production team remarked.
Next in line for recognition was cameraman Shreyas, who they described as “the cameraman who infuses magic into every shot.”
Designer of the film’s posters, Tuney John, was honored as ‘The Poster Magician’.
“The initial magic of RETRO began with his posters. They were vibrant, bold, and instantly eye-catching. He crafted the movie's visual identity even before it graced the screen and continues to work his magic with each new poster,” they stated.
In conclusion, the production team expressed their gratitude towards the technicians for their invaluable contributions, stating, “These are the Offscreen Magicians of RETRO! They may not appear on the screen, but without their efforts, the true magic would not come to life. Immense respect for the entire team. Retro hits theaters on May 1st – prepare for the enchantment!”
