Gaza, April 19 (NationPress) - Israeli airstrikes throughout the Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of at least 45 Palestinians and left numerous others injured, as reported by the Civil Defence in Gaza.
According to Mahmoud Basal, the spokesperson for the Civil Defence, on Friday, ten individuals lost their lives in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a residential building belonging to the Baraka family in the southern city of Khan Younis. Additionally, six others, including two children and a woman, were killed following an airstrike on a local barbershop.
“Several other strikes in Khan Younis reportedly resulted in the deaths of eight more individuals, while two were killed in the southern city of Rafah,” he stated.
In northern Gaza, at least 13 individuals died and many others were injured when a strike hit the home of the Maqdad family in the Tal al-Zaatar area. Six additional fatalities occurred due to airstrikes on two displacement tents in Gaza City, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.
The Civil Defence issued a warning in a press statement that their emergency operations may come to a standstill in the following days because of fuel shortages, which they attribute to ongoing Israeli restrictions on the entry of aid and fuel.
In another incident in the same area, an Israeli airstrike struck a tent sheltering displaced civilians in the al-Tuwwam region, killing two Palestinians and injuring six.
A young man was also killed in an Israeli strike that targeted a group of civilians in Jabalia.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated on Friday that, guided by intelligence, their troops continue operational actions against militant groups in Gaza, dismantling their infrastructure and neutralizing militants.
“The Israeli Air Force targeted nearly 40 terror sites across Gaza, including militants, military structures, and weapons storage facilities,” the statement noted.
Further assaults were reported throughout Gaza, notably in the eastern regions of Gaza City, with heavy shelling and airstrikes particularly affecting the Shujaiya and Zeitoun neighborhoods, resulting in the destruction of residential buildings.
On Thursday alone, the Israeli military claimed responsibility for the deaths of at least 45 Palestinians amid intensified air, drone, and artillery strikes across the Gaza Strip, as per information from Palestinian medical sources, civil defense teams, and eyewitness accounts.
Since October 2023, more than 51,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have been killed in Israel's ongoing conflict against Gaza.
