Yangon, Jan 21 (NationPress) Authorities in Myanmar have seized 20 kg of Ice (methamphetamine) alongside 366,000 stimulant tablets in the Yangon region, as reported by state-run media on Tuesday.

Following a tip-off, anti-narcotics officers conducted a search in Hlaing township and confiscated the 20 kg of methamphetamine on January 14, according to a report from Xinhua news agency, which cited the state-run daily The Mirror.

Moreover, 366,000 stimulant tablets were seized from two suspects in Hlegu township on January 16. The individual linked to the stimulant tablets was arrested in Zabuthiri township in Nay Pyi Taw on January 17.

The value of the seized narcotics is estimated at 866 million kyats (approximately $412,380), according to the report.

Charges have been filed against the suspects under national legislation, and investigations are ongoing.

Earlier, on Monday, police confiscated 966,000 stimulant tablets in the Shan state of Myanmar, as reported by the official Global New Light of Myanmar.

Acting on a tip-off, a collaborative anti-narcotics task force intercepted a vehicle in Kengtung township of Shan state on January 16, leading to the seizure of the drugs.

The confiscated drugs were valued at over 380 million kyats (about $0.18 million).

Investigations revealed that the stimulant tablets were intended for trafficking from Mong Ping township to Tachileik township within Shan state.

The individuals involved in this case have also been charged under the country's laws, and further inquiries are in progress.

Previously, on January 4, authorities in Myanmar confiscated 60 kg of ICE (methamphetamine) in Shan state.

The drugs were valued at 480 million kyats (around $228,571) on the black market, with a suspect arrested in connection with this case.

Investigations suggested that the drugs were transported from Mong Ping township to Tachileik township in Shan state.

The suspect is facing charges under national laws, and further investigations are continuing.
