New York, March 30 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump declared on Monday that a "new and more reasonable regime" has emerged in Iran, suggesting a shift in leadership dynamics, and claimed that Washington has achieved "significant progress" in engaging in "serious discussions" with this new entity.

While he has previously mentioned "regime change" as a personal objective, there has yet to be any confirmation from Tehran, which continues to release aggressive statements.

Trump later reiterated his claims on Truth Social, stating to reporters on Sunday, "We’ve had regime change." He elaborated that after dismantling the initial layers of the Tehran government, they are currently dealing with a "third regime" and that Washington is now in conversation with a "completely different group of individuals".

The foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan, who convened over the weekend, hinted at potential diplomatic movement in a statement released by Islamabad.

Although Tehran has denied any "direct negotiations," a spokesperson from the foreign ministry did acknowledge that messages were exchanged through intermediaries.

Trump remarked on Sunday that, as a sign of goodwill from the unnamed Iranians, 20 oil ships were permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz under Pakistani flags. He did not clarify whether these vessels had any connection to the US.

Nonetheless, in his Truth Social update on Monday, Trump issued a stark warning that "if a deal is not reached imminently, and if the Hormuz Strait is not promptly 'Open for Business', we may conclude our pleasant 'stay' in Iran by obliterating all their electric generation facilities, oil wells, and potentially all desalination plants!" He emphasized that they have intentionally not yet "touched" these facilities.

Earlier, Tasnim News Agency reported that Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei denied any direct talks with the US, stating that only requests for discussions from the US were communicated via third-party nations.

Trump’s statement regarding progress in negotiations followed the reinforcement of US military presence in the region, which includes over 50,000 troops, with 2,000 from the Army’s elite 82nd Airborne Division ready for rapid deployment.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar stated after meetings with his counterparts from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye that they discussed potential strategies for achieving a swift and lasting ceasefire in the region. He mentioned briefing them on the prospects for US-Iran talks in Islamabad, but did not confirm that they were on the verge of happening or that Tehran had consented to them.

Simultaneously, fighting in the region remains unabated.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that they were initiating "a new wave of retaliatory strikes" against facilities in the area utilized by US and Israeli personnel, according to Tasnim.
