Tunisian Authorities Break Up Cocaine Trafficking Operation, Confiscate 3.5 kg

Tunis, Dec 26 (NationPress) Security forces in Tunisia have successfully dismantled a network involved in drug trafficking within the capital city, Tunis, confiscating 3.5 kg of cocaine, according to a post made by the Tunisian National Guard on its Facebook page.
The National Guard units focused their efforts on the criminal group operating in the Ain Zaghouan neighborhood. While specific details regarding the operation and the number of arrests were not disclosed, the information was provided by Xinhua news agency.
This operation was initiated after investigations led to the discovery of an unregistered vehicle parked near a residence in Tunis. Authorities found 3.5 kg of cocaine inside the vehicle.
The government of Tunisia has adopted a firm approach against drug trafficking, apprehending hundreds of individuals believed to be involved in such activities during recent nationwide operations.
Earlier in December 2024, security forces in Tunisia dismantled another drug trafficking network operating in the Grand Tunis area, the largest metropolitan zone in the country, seizing 3 kg of cocaine, as reported on the National Guard's Facebook page.
During two distinct operations, officials arrested five individuals and confiscated the cocaine, along with various narcotic pills, cash, jewelry, and three vehicles, according to the National Guard.
No details were provided regarding the timing of these operations or the nationalities of the suspects involved.
In an additional operation on December 1, security forces dismantled two drug trafficking networks in the provinces of Ben Arous and Ariana, located near the capital Tunis, as reported by Tunisian National Radio.
In these two separate operations, nine individuals were arrested, and an undisclosed quantity of narcotics, cash, and a vehicle were seized.
The report did not specify the timing of these operations or the nationalities of the suspects, but confirmed that two of them were already wanted on various charges.
