Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Rajgarh, February 9 (NationPress) As part of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA), a dedicated health camp was held at the outpatient department of the government hospital in Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh on Monday.
Official reports indicate that over 300 pregnant women participated in the camp, availing themselves of complimentary antenatal check-ups, diagnostic tests, and medications, including sonography.
A senior physician overseeing the event informed IANS that these camps are conducted bi-monthly.
On the ninth day of each month, qualified gynecologists, radiologists, and medical officers examine the pregnant attendees.
The medical evaluations encompass essential services such as blood pressure monitoring, urine tests, hemoglobin assessments, and blood sugar screenings to identify and manage high-risk pregnancies.
"During the initial camp of the month on the ninth, we perform routine assessments like blood pressure, urine, hemoglobin, and blood sugar checks to identify high-risk pregnancies. Those identified as high-risk are invited back for the second camp of the month," the doctor explained.
Additionally, this initiative aims to educate pregnant women and their families on the significance of four essential antenatal check-ups, mental health care during pregnancy, early identification of issues, and overall importance.
Special focus was placed on promoting institutional deliveries to ensure the safety of both mothers and newborns.
Information was provided regarding the complimentary services available through the Care Companion Programme, Family-Centered Care, and Perinatal Mental Health initiatives, which include prenatal, postnatal, and mental-emotional counseling.
Beneficiaries were also guided on how to access support from home via Tele-MANAS, the Manhit App, and the Suman Sakhi helpline.
The PMSMA initiative is implemented on the 9th and 25th of each month to enhance maternal and child safety, encourage institutional deliveries, and reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.
Some beneficiaries shared their satisfaction with the services and expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritizing women's health through such initiatives.
