Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Jan 13 (NationPress) A dedicated health camp was held at the Burhanpur district hospital in Madhya Pradesh as part of the Prime Minister Surakshit Matritva Abhiyaan (PMSMA), offering complimentary health check-ups and guidance to numerous pregnant women.
During this camp, a total of 40 pregnant women received both physical and mental health evaluations, with 10 of them identified as having high-risk pregnancies. These individuals were promptly provided with the necessary treatment and consultations from specialist physicians.
The main goal of the health camp was to ensure timely and efficient healthcare services for pregnant women, safeguarding both the mother and her child.
A local resident, Mangala Bhagat, commended the initiative, emphasizing the crucial role of such camps in enhancing the well-being of expectant mothers. She noted how the pregnant women are educated about the significance of timely vaccinations, proper nutrition, and a balanced diet.
Additionally, she mentioned that the medical team offers detailed insights regarding diet plans and adequate rest periods during pregnancy, which greatly benefits the women.
Medical Officer Dr. Pratibha Bagar informed IANS that these camps are conducted regularly under the PMSMA, where expectant mothers receive free medical support, counseling, and essential tests, including sonography, at no cost.
Women at risk of complications during childbirth are identified in advance to ensure timely treatment and solutions.
According to Dr. Bagar, the initiative has garnered positive responses and has significantly contributed to a decline in maternal mortality rates.
Vandana Missi, Field Officer of the PMSMA, stated that special camps for pregnant women are organized regularly following central government guidelines, and many women benefit from these free health services. She added that this initiative not only raises awareness among pregnant women but also serves as a vital step towards safe motherhood.
At the health camps, expectant mothers are also informed about 24-hour free support services, toll-free numbers, and facilities like Tele-MANAS available under the CCP, FCC, and PMH programs.
This campaign is conducted monthly to guarantee timely identification, treatment, and monitoring of pregnant women, thereby consistently reducing both maternal and infant mortality rates.
