Bhopal, April 14 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyaan (PMSMA), aimed at providing antenatal care to expectant mothers, is proving to be highly beneficial for numerous pregnant women in the Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh.
A recent health camp held at the district hospital witnessed a large turnout of pregnant women from Burhanpur and nearby areas, all seeking complimentary health check-ups and screenings.
As per the hospital officials, 14 women were identified as having high-risk pregnancies and were given specialized monitoring and counseling.
Participants in the PMSMA program, a government initiative that offers antenatal care at no cost during the second and third trimesters, expressed their gratitude towards the Prime Minister for this valuable service.
Each attendee at the health camp underwent necessary screenings, including sonography, blood tests, and medical consultations. They conveyed their appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that this scheme greatly alleviates the financial burden on underprivileged and rural women.
Beneficiary Vaishali Bhalekar remarked, "The PMSMA has significantly benefited me. My check-up was conducted with utmost care and efficiency. I received excellent attention from the doctors, and I didn’t have to spend any money on the tests, all thanks to this scheme."
Another beneficiary, Nandini, stated, "I had a free check-up under this initiative. The hospital offers complimentary medical care. My heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister for this service."

Gynecologist Dr. Sarita Golkar explained that this initiative ensures comprehensive check-ups that assess both physical and mental health.
“If any health issues are identified during examinations, suitable medical treatment is given. Pregnant women are also offered guidance on proper nutrition and dietary practices,” she informed IANS.
