Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Burhanpur (Madhya Pradesh), Feb 9 (NationPress) As part of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA), a dedicated health camp was held at the OPD of the District Hospital in Burhanpur on Monday. This initiative facilitated extensive physical and mental health examinations for over 40 expectant mothers.
During the event, more than six women were flagged as having high-risk pregnancies and were promptly provided with essential medical care, diagnostic tests, and expert consultations to avert complications and guarantee safe deliveries.
Moreover, both pregnant women and their families received vital education regarding the importance of four essential antenatal check-ups, the necessity of mental health support during pregnancy, early detection, and its overall importance. A special focus was placed on institutional deliveries to safeguard both maternal and neonatal well-being.
Information regarding the 24×7 free support services available through the CCP, FCC, and PMH programs was also disseminated, which includes prenatal, postnatal, and mental-emotional counseling. Beneficiaries were directed on how to access assistance from home via Tele-MANAS, the Manhit App, and the Suman Sakhi helpline.
The PMSMA initiative is carried out on the 9th and 25th of every month, aiming to enhance maternal and child safety, encourage institutional deliveries, and decrease maternal and infant mortality rates.
Participants expressed their satisfaction with the services and gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritizing women's health through such impactful initiatives.
One beneficiary, Manisha Awase, remarked, “All facilities here are free; medications and treatments are provided at no cost.”
Another beneficiary, Yogita Dipesh Bhalerao, noted that all medical tests, which can be quite pricey at private hospitals, were performed without any charges. “The Prime Minister has introduced many beneficial schemes for women,” she added.
Dr. Poonam Singhal, a gynecologist, mentioned that these special camps are organized bi-monthly under PMSMA to closely monitor high-risk cases, including women with hypertension, diabetes, or previous C-section deliveries.
Dr. Rehana Bohra echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that the scheme prioritizes high-risk patients and plays a vital role in ensuring safe motherhood.
Seema David, District PMSMA In-charge, highlighted that the program is well-structured and aims to strengthen maternal healthcare services at the grassroots level.
