Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 26 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Araria on Thursday, participating in a ceremony at the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) border outpost located in the Letti area. This visit will also involve further security evaluations in the region.
Additionally, he will review the development projects being executed under the centrally sponsored Vibrant Villages Programme as part of his activities in the border districts.
Shah's three-day tour of Bihar commenced on Wednesday, concentrating on bolstering border security, assessing administrative readiness, and overseeing ongoing development initiatives in the Seemanchal area, which is adjacent to the borders of Nepal and Bangladesh.
Upon his arrival in Purnea on Wednesday, the Home Minister received a warm welcome. He then traveled by helicopter to Kishanganj, where he chaired a review meeting at the district Collectorate to evaluate the current situation and ensure coordination among officials.
In Araria, post the inauguration of the border outpost in Letti, Shah will conduct an extensive review meeting at the Araria Collectorate with district magistrates and superintendents of police from seven border districts to discuss matters related to the India-Nepal border.
The progress and implementation of the Vibrant Village Programme will also be part of the agenda during this meeting.
On February 27, the Home Minister will reconvene with officials in Purnea to further explore issues pertinent to the border districts. After concluding the final set of review meetings, he will head back to New Delhi.
This visit is regarded as crucial for strengthening border security, monitoring the status of significant development schemes, and ensuring administrative synchronization in districts that are sensitive due to their proximity to international borders.
Authorities have made extensive logistical preparations for the visit, and robust security measures have been established given the high-profile nature of the tour.
The Seemanchal region is the focal point of the Home Minister’s visit. This initiative is perceived as a major priority for the Home Ministry, succeeding its ‘Naxal-Mukt Bharat’ campaign, with a specific focus on rendering Seemanchal “infiltrator-free”.
Shah has visited Seemanchal several times over recent years, underscoring the government's commitment to the region.
