Bengaluru, March 19 (NationPress) A software engineer from Bengaluru has lodged a police report against his wife, alleging both mental and physical abuse, and claiming she tried to kill him by assaulting his private parts.
The report was filed at the Vyalikaval police station in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the allegations.
Srikanth, the individual making the allegations, claims that his wife and her family have subjected him to severe mental and physical torment for financial gain. He asserts that he lost his job while working remotely due to constant arguments and disturbances caused by his wife. “She even performed a dance in front of my laptop during video calls,” he detailed in his complaint.
Srikanth further contended that upon expressing his wish for a divorce, his wife demanded a sum of Rs 45 lakh as a condition for her agreement. Despite their marriage beginning in August 2022, he stated that they have not lived together in peace, nor has their marriage been consummated.
In his report, Srikanth accused his wife of blackmailing him with threats of writing a suicide note if he attempted to leave her. He claimed she physically assaulted him and even tried to harm him by attacking his private parts.
Additionally, he alleged that his wife’s family pressured him for large amounts of money to buy a home, and when he declined, the harassment escalated.
The police have spoken to the wife, who reportedly expressed that she no longer wishes to remain married to him due to a lack of compatibility.
This incident highlights increasing concerns surrounding marital strife and abuse. Notably, on January 28, a man named Peter allegedly took his own life in Hubballi, Karnataka, reportedly due to his wife's harassment. His family indicated he left behind a note expressing he could no longer withstand the abuse.
In a separate case, a husband self-immolated outside his wife’s home in Bengaluru's Nagarbhavi area after failing to persuade her to withdraw a divorce petition.
Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash also reportedly died by suicide after his wife, Nikita Singhania, allegedly demanded Rs 3 crore as a divorce settlement.
