Bhubaneswar Set to Host Classical Dance and Music Festival from January 7-11

Bhubaneswar, January 7 (NationPress) The Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department is set to present a festival of classical dance and music in Bhubaneswar from January 7 to 11, coinciding with the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas event, which is expected to attract over 3,000 NRIs and persons of Indian heritage.
The Odisha government is making extensive preparations to ensure that the three-day Pravasi Bharatiya Divas event is a remarkable success.
Kicking off in Bhubaneswar from January 8 to 10, the event aims to highlight the rich and vibrant art and culture of the state to delegates from around the world.
State Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj remarked on Monday, "Classical dance and music are central to our cultural identity and heritage. The Rajarani Music Festival, Mukteswar Odissi Dance Festival, and International Odissi Dance Festival are being organized to showcase our rich cultural legacy. These festivals will coincide with the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations in the city, providing an opportunity for guests from both domestic and international backgrounds to experience the splendor of our classical art forms."
According to the Odisha Culture department, the Rajarani Music Festival, Mukteswar Odissi Dance Festival, and International Odissi Dance Festival will take place in Bhubaneswar from January 7 to 11.
Under the auspices of the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, this five-day event will feature performances in classical dance and music.
The International Odissi Dance Festival is slated to occur at Rabindra Mandap, while the Rajarani Music Festival will be hosted at the Rajarani Temple premises, and the Mukteswar Odissi Dance Festival will take place at the Mukteswar Temple.
This year’s International Odissi Dance Festival will showcase distinguished Odissi dancers and gurus, such as Kumkum Mohanty, Ileana Citaristi, Durga Charan Ranbir, Jhelum Paranjape, and Soren Lewen.
A photo exhibition that highlights the history and significance of the International Odissi Dance Festival will also be featured during the celebrations.
The Mukteswar Odissi Dance Festival will include solo, duet, and group performances by notable Odissi dancers, while the Rajarani Music Festival will present recitals of Hindustani, Carnatic, and Odissi music.
