Key Takeaways
Patna, Dec 16 (NationPress) Individuals causing disturbances near schools, colleges, and coaching centers in Motihari, Bihar, will now face stringent measures.
Those engaging in harassment or making inappropriate comments towards female students will be apprehended and incarcerated, an official stated, as the Motihari Police introduced the ‘Abhaya Brigade’ this Tuesday to safeguard girls and women.
The initiative was officially launched by East Champaran Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat.
This brigade has been established under directives from the police headquarters aimed at curbing crimes against women and schoolgirls.
The SP has mandated all police personnel to undertake ongoing and decisive interventions against wrongdoers and anti-social elements.
As part of the campaign, specialized Abhaya Brigade teams have been organized across nearly all 50 police stations within the district.
Each team consists of one female officer, two female constables, and one male constable.
Following their launch, these teams commenced patrolling their designated areas immediately.
The Abhaya Brigade will concentrate on pinpointing high-crime areas and preventing offenses such as molestation, kidnapping, rape, human trafficking, chain snatching, and harassment.
Teams will be stationed near schools, colleges, and coaching centers, operating both in uniform and in plain clothes, and will act swiftly against offenders.
“The primary goal of the Abhaya Brigade is to foster a sense of security among women and girl students. Every complaint will be acted upon promptly,” stated SP Swarn Prabhat.
Parents and educational institutions have praised this initiative, deeming it a significant and positive advancement towards ensuring the safety of women and students in the district.
The Abhaya Brigade was established by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary after he took on the role of Home Minister of Bihar.
He has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women in Bihar and has instructed the state police to enhance patrolling at schools, colleges, coaching centers, and other educational institutions while taking strict action against offenders.
