BJP and AAP Clash Over Kejriwal's Letter Addressing Delhi's Law and Order Concerns

New Delhi, Dec 14 (NationPress) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and BJP found themselves in a heated exchange on Saturday after AAP National Convener and former Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, sent a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah raising concerns about the law and order situation in the national capital.

Speaking with IANS, Virendra Sachdeva sharply criticized Kejriwal, citing previous allegations and controversies surrounding the Delhi administration.

"Look who is discussing law and order? The individual under whose watch a woman was assaulted in his own home. Now he has the nerve to write a letter. This is the same Kejriwal who once supported criminal elements and ignored the actions of his party members. How many of his MLAs face criminal charges, and what steps have been taken?" he questioned.

He mentioned ongoing legal issues involving certain AAP legislators.

Sachdeva further accused Kejriwal of attempting to distract from what he referred to as the 'core issues' plaguing Delhi, such as corruption, inadequate infrastructure, and soaring electricity rates.

"With the Delhi Assembly elections approaching, Kejriwal is using this letter as a diversion, as his popularity has waned among the people of Delhi," he added.

AAP National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar responded to the BJP’s claims regarding law and order management in Delhi.

"Crime rates have surged alarmingly, with frequent reports of chain snatching, robberies, and gang violence. Women, the elderly, and even children are unsafe. The BJP, which was entrusted by the citizens of Delhi to uphold law and order, has utterly failed in this duty," Kakkar stated.

She also backed Kejriwal's call for a meeting with Amit Shah, urging the Union Home Minister to move beyond election modes and tackle the escalating concerns.

The exchange of criticisms between AAP and BJP underscores the ongoing political tension in Delhi as elections approach, with both parties leveraging the law and order issue as a significant point of conflict.

Earlier that day, Kejriwal's letter raised alarms regarding the worsening law and order scenario in the national capital, requesting an urgent meeting with Shah to discuss the rising crime rates.

Kejriwal highlighted that although law and order falls under central government jurisdiction, Delhi has gained notoriety as the 'crime capital' of India.

He expressed profound worries about the increasing crime rate and called for immediate intervention to rectify the situation.
