Speaking to reporters in Saharanpur, Nabin's comment landed days after Tamil Nadu BJP chief Nainar Nagenthran had explicitly called Gandhi a 'part-time politician' over an incident at a Congress event in Indore.

What Nabin Said in Saharanpur

Addressing party workers and media in Saharanpur, Nitin Nabin — without naming anyone directly — said: 'A Bharatiya Janata Party worker works round-the-clock; our workers are not part-time politicians. I am delighted by the zeal and enthusiasm visible among the workers everywhere, and by the firm resolve they demonstrate to form a BJP government in Uttar Pradesh once again.'

The BJP president expressed full confidence about returning to power in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. 'After visiting western Uttar Pradesh, interacting with workers, and discussing matters with senior leaders, I am confident that the Bharatiya Janata Party will successfully achieve its mission for 2027,' he stated.

The Backdrop: Congress Event in Indore

The remarks come in the wake of controversy surrounding Rahul Gandhi's 'Chhatron ki Goonj' event in Indore, where Gandhi was accused by BJP leaders of performing a mimicry of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tamil Nadu BJP chief Nainar Nagenthran had condemned Gandhi for the episode and labelled him a 'part-time politician' — a charge Nabin appears to have echoed, albeit without attribution.

Notably, this is part of a broader BJP pattern of contrasting its cadre-based, grassroots organisational model with what it characterises as Congress's leadership-centric approach. Critics from the Congress, however, argue that such attacks are deflection from governance accountability.

Nabin's Tribute at Kargil Martyrs Memorial, Meerut

On the first day of his Uttar Pradesh visit, Monday, 21 September, Nabin paid floral tributes at the Kargil Martyrs Memorial Park in Meerut. In a post on X, he wrote: 'Today, during a visit to Uttar Pradesh, upon reaching the Kargil Martyrs Memorial Park in Meerut, I paid floral tributes and bowed in homage to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation's defence, and planted a tree in their memory.'

He added: 'The courage of our soldiers, their dedication to the nation, and their supreme sacrifice made while defending the country's borders will forever remain a source of inspiration for every Indian.'

2027 Mission: Organisational Review Underway

Beyond the political messaging, Nabin's two-day tour carries a structural purpose: the BJP leadership is conducting a detailed review of organisational preparedness at the booth, 'Shakti Kendra' (cluster of booths), mandal, and district levels across western Uttar Pradesh. The party is also initiating direct dialogue with ground-level workers as part of its early groundwork for the 2027 Assembly polls.

Nabin also cited Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's tenure and Prime Minister Modi's twelve-year record at the Centre, asserting that 'the public has clear faith in our approach to development and our foreign policy' and that voters trust the government to transform Uttar Pradesh into what he called 'Uttam Pradesh' — an exemplary state.
