Davanagere (Karnataka), April 6 (NationPress) The state President of Karnataka's BJP and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra proclaimed on Monday that the atmosphere in the Davanagere South constituency resembles a “tsunami” rather than a mere BJP wave this election season.
Addressing a large gathering during a grand procession related to the by-elections, he emphasized that the informed and engaged voters in the area are determined to secure the win for BJP's candidate, Srinivasadas Kariyappa.
Critiquing the Shamanur family, he asserted that true development in Davanagere South can only be realized through leaders like Srinivasadas Kariyappa, who come from humble backgrounds, rather than affluent elites.
“Citizens do not desire MLAs arriving in helicopters; they prefer representatives who are accessible and responsive to their needs,” he stated.
Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, accused a single family of attempting to monopolize Davanagere.
He remarked that the grandfather served as both MLA and minister in the past, followed by his son, who is also an MLA and minister, and now the son’s wife holds an MP position. “Now they are nominating their son for candidacy. This family-centric ticket distribution is a strategy to dominate Davanagere. If Congress secures another victory, ticket allocation will be restricted for the next 40 years,” he warned.
Joshi also mentioned that elections are happening across various regions, criticizing the Congress party for achieving nothing in Assam and predicted they would remain stagnant. He also condemned the Congress government for its failure to fulfill its promised schemes.
The event witnessed participation from Legislative Council Opposition Leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, candidate Srinivasadas Kariyappa, MLAs B.P. Harish and S.R. Vishwanath, former Union Minister G.M. Siddeshwar, former minister Renukacharya, party leaders, and numerous supporters. The procession commenced from Sri Kodandarama Temple in Mandipete, proceeding to Kaipete.
