Jammu, Nov 9 (NationPress) The Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Daljit Singh Chawdhary, officially launched the Jammu marathon on Sunday.
This event, organized by the BSF Jammu frontier to celebrate the 60th Raising Day of the paramilitary force, stands as the first major public gathering in the Jammu division following Operation Sindoor.
The marathon aims to foster physical fitness and promote a drug-free lifestyle among the youth, drawing enthusiastic participation from civilians, security personnel, and students.
More than 6,000 participants from across the nation registered for various categories including 42-km, 21-km, and 10-km races, in addition to a fun run of 5-km.
Among the participants were several international runners, many of whom proudly displayed national flags and chanted slogans honoring both the country and the BSF.
“This is the inaugural marathon organized by the BSF in Jammu to promote physical fitness and a drug-free India. A nation becomes healthier when its citizens embrace fitness,” stated the DG BSF during a press interaction.
Highlighting the BSF’s contribution during Operation Sindoor, DG Chawdhary remarked that the operation has significantly enhanced public trust in the force.
“There is a noticeable rise in youth eager to join the BSF, and this successful marathon exemplifies our commitment to engage with the public in our mission for a drug-free nation,” he added.
The BSF chief expressed gratitude towards the participants from various regions and acknowledged the support from the Jammu and Kashmir government and local administration.
Several runners from Kenya also participated and praised the BSF for facilitating their visit.
Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty is not only promoting the Jammu marathon but also participating in it. He previously encouraged the public to join the marathon with enthusiasm and the goal of enhancing physical fitness.
