Kolkata, May 29 (NationPress) The Border Security Force (BSF) has achieved significant narcotics seizures at three points along the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal, as confirmed by an official on Thursday. The operation resulted in the confiscation of nearly 6,000 Yaba tablets, a substantial amount of Ganja, and over 300 bottles of banned Phensedyl cough syrup.
On Wednesday at approximately 9:30 p.m., personnel from the 102 Bn BSF stationed at Border Outpost Ghojadanga in the North 24-Parganas district acted on credible intelligence regarding a large stash of drugs concealed in a nearby parking area. Swiftly, the troops executed a thorough search operation at the designated site and discovered a suspicious bag. Upon inspection, the bag revealed 59 small packets and one large packet containing a total of 5,914 Yaba tablets and 110 bottles of a banned codeine-based cough syrup,
stated N.K. Pandey, DIG and spokesperson for the South Bengal Frontier, BSF.
The confiscated narcotics were transported to the Ghojadanga BOP, with the estimated value of the 5,914 Yaba tablets being Rs 59,14,000.
In a separate operation on the same day, the 67 Bn and 143 Bn BSF, stationed at Border Outposts Behera and Hakimpur in the North 24-Parganas district, conducted independent raids, resulting in the seizure of 34.58 kg of Ganja and 308 bottles of Phensedyl. A smuggler was detained along with a motorcycle.
“All confiscated items have been turned over to the appropriate authorities. This marks a significant achievement in our fight against drug abuse and our ongoing efforts to curb smuggling along the IBB. Our actions aim to deter smugglers and other criminals,” Pandey remarked.
The BSF serves as a central armed police force under the Ministry of Home Affairs, tasked with safeguarding the nation’s border regions with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
