Delhi BJP's Virendra Sachdeva Slams AAP's False Claims on Pink Cards
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 31 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and General Secretary and MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat on Tuesday denounced the misinformation propagated by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers, aided by certain video journalists, concerning the women’s ‘Saheli Pink Cards’ utilized in DTC buses.
In his statement, the Delhi BJP chief encouraged women to remain vigilant against falsehoods and to utilize their Pink Cards at their discretion.
Sachdeva pointed out that recently, some video journalists have been “manipulated” by AAP leaders to mislead women into thinking that once a Pink Card is tapped on a bus, it cannot be tapped again for an hour. This, he asserted, is utterly false.
To demonstrate the validity of his claims, Sachdeva mentioned that Mahila Morcha workers tested the system by switching buses and successfully tapped their Pink Cards three times in just thirty minutes.
He urged women in Delhi to travel freely throughout the city using Pink Cards or Pink Tickets on DTC’s modern e-buses and other buses.
Moreover, Sachdeva indicated that due to the time required to issue Pink Cards to millions of women, Pink Tickets will remain available in buses for the upcoming months.
The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has also been instructed to facilitate the issuance of Pink Cards for women through the offices of public representatives.
Previously, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta asserted that the ‘Saheli Pink Card’ initiative for women bus riders is functioning “100 percent” effectively. In a post on X, she launched a vehement critique of her political rivals, accusing them of being uncomfortable with programs designed to empower women. “They are bothered by girls riding bicycles — how will the ‘Saheli Pink Card’ ever appeal to them?” she questioned, taking a jab at AAP.
Gupta reiterated that the Pink Saheli Card scheme operates smoothly and continues to benefit women throughout the national Capital. “The Pink Saheli Card is working perfectly. It offers free rides. Just tap. Travel without worry,” she stated in her post.
In a video message accompanying her remarks, the Chief Minister addressed what she described as “false propaganda” being disseminated about the scheme. She alleged that certain political factions are deliberately spreading misleading information to confuse women who utilize the card.
