New Delhi, April 20 (NationPress) In a significant effort to address the water requirements of Delhi during the intense summer months, the Delhi government is set to launch 1,000 GPS-enabled water tankers this Sunday.
This initiative is designed to enhance the water supply in areas that lack adequate piped water access and will be inaugurated at Nirankari Ground in Burari.
Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Verma conducted an early morning inspection of the site prior to the launch.
Verma announced this initiative on Friday, stating that the deployment of these tankers is part of a broader mission to ensure timely and transparent water delivery to all citizens.
"We are committed to fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of ensuring water availability for all in a timely manner," he emphasized.
"This initiative transcends mere water delivery; it aims to instill accountability, transparency, and dignity for every citizen who relies on our services," Verma added.
In the meantime, several BJP leaders gathered at the Nirankari Ground to participate in the launch ceremony.
Delhi BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat remarked to IANS, "Tankers are crucial for the residents of Delhi during the sweltering summers. Moreover, these tankers are fitted with tracking devices to guarantee transparency and accountability, ensuring that citizens face no challenges."
Delhi BJP MP Yogender Chandolia criticized the previous Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government for causing distress among the populace during summer months.
"Today marks a historic moment for Delhi. The corrupt Kejriwal administration previously subjected residents to suffering by enabling the tanker mafia, who would steal water and sell it at inflated prices. Now, with the new GPS technology, their operations will be curtailed," Chandolia informed IANS.
BJP MLA Ravinder Negi conveyed to IANS, "This new system will combat the tanker mafia effectively. With this initiative, the people of Delhi will be free from water-related issues this summer."
To ensure optimal monitoring, a newly established Command Centre at Nirankari Ground will track the tankers in real-time.
This cutting-edge facility will oversee movement, speed, and delivery times, enabling officials to guarantee that each tanker arrives at its destination promptly and efficiently, as per the Delhi Jal Board.
This initiative is part of the Delhi Jal Board's extensive strategy to modernize the city's water distribution framework, which includes not only enhancements in supply but also rigorous oversight to combat water theft, misuse, and uneven distribution throughout the capital.
