Raichur, April 18 (NationPress) Four individuals tragically lost their lives and two others sustained injuries in a road mishap near Amarpura in Karnataka's Raichur district on Friday.

The deceased have been named as Nagaraj (28), Somu (38), Nagabhushan (36), and Murali (38), all hailing from Hindupur in Telangana.

As per police reports, the victims were traveling in a goods vehicle headed towards Shahapura town in Yadgir district to attend a sheep fair.

The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to overspeeding, causing it to collide with the parapet of a bridge.

The force of the impact resulted in the instant death of four individuals seated in the front of the goods vehicle.

The driver, identified as Anand, suffered severe injuries and has been admitted to the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).

Another survivor informed the police that they were en route to purchase sheep from the fair in Shahapur.

He stated that they had gone to sleep around 10 p.m. after dinner, and were unaware of who was driving.

The survivor mentioned he only regained consciousness after police provided him with water. Investigations are ongoing.

On April 11, a similar incident claimed the lives of four people, including three women from the same family, in a collision between a goods vehicle and a Road Transport Corporation bus in Yadgir district.

Previously, on April 5, five people lost their lives and eleven were injured when a mini-bus collided with a parked truck in Kalaburagi district. This accident occurred near Nelogi Cross, close to Jevargi town.

The victims were headed to visit the renowned Khwaja Bande Nawaz Dargah in Kalaburagi city.

In another unfortunate event, four individuals, en route to a relative's funeral, were killed instantly when their vehicle was struck by a luxury bus, Airavat, from the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway on April 3.
