Hyderabad, April 22 (NationPress) Girls excelled over boys in the Telangana Intermediate public examinations, with results released on Tuesday.

The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) announced the results for the first and second years (11th and 12th grades).

A total of 9.97 lakh students participated in the examinations conducted in March and April.

The overall pass percentage for the first year was 66.89. Among girls, the pass rate was 73.83, while boys had a pass percentage of only 57.83. A total of 4,88,430 students took the first-year exams.

For the second year, the overall pass percentage was 71.37, with girls again surpassing boys. Girls achieved a pass percentage of 74.21, compared to 57.31 for boys. In total, 5,08,582 students appeared for the second-year exams.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced the results, accompanied by Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, along with Education Secretary Yogita Rana, BIE Secretary Krishna Aditya, and other officials.

The Deputy CM congratulated the successful students and their families, wishing them well for their future academic pursuits.

He mentioned that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, currently visiting Japan, had asked him to extend his congratulations and best wishes to the students.

Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the state government's commitment to the education sector and commended BIE officials for conducting the examinations and promptly evaluating the answer sheets.

Among the districts, Medchal Malkajgiri led with a 77.21 pass percentage in the first year, while Mahabubabad had the lowest at 48.43. In the second year, Mulugu district excelled with an 80.12 percent pass rate, whereas Kamareddy finished last with a pass percentage of 54.93.

BIE Secretary Aditya announced that students may apply for re-verification and recounting within a week by paying a fee of Rs 600 and Rs 100, respectively. Advanced supplementary exams are scheduled to commence on May 22.
