Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel reviews 110+ grievances, orders time-bound resolution at Swagat
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday, 30 April 2025, directed district administrations across the state to ensure timely, impartial, and accountable resolution of citizens' grievances during the monthly State Swagat online public grievance redressal hearing in Gandhinagar. More than 110 complainants from across Gujarat appeared before the Chief Minister, while a total of 1,335 representations were taken up at district-level Swagat hearings.
Key Directives from the Chief Minister
Patel made clear that administrative responsibility does not end when a file moves between departments — it must continue until each grievance reaches full closure. He emphasised that accountability must be maintained at every stage of a citizen's complaint, and directed district administrations to prevent delays caused by poor inter-departmental coordination.
Addressing concerns around digital governance, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that technical or procedural shortcomings in online systems do not translate into hardship or delays for the public.
Panchmahal Land Permission Case
In a notable case from Panchmahal district, an application submitted through the iORA portal for permission to sell agricultural land was repeatedly transferred between departments without resolution. Taking serious note of the pendency, Patel directed the district collector to ensure that such procedural movement does not result in prolonged delays and that applicants are not subjected to unnecessary hardship due to system inefficiencies.
Bharuch Farmer's Compensation Ordered Within 10 Days
In Bharuch district's Jhagadia taluka, a farmer raised the issue of non-payment of compensation for land acquired under the Karjan reservoir project, despite the award having already been approved. The Chief Minister directed that the compensation be paid within 10 days and ordered that responsibility be fixed on the officials responsible for the delay — a rare and pointed directive signalling zero tolerance for bureaucratic inaction.
Action on Financial Fraud and Land Record Discrepancies
Patel also instructed the police department to take strict enforcement action against individuals involved in financial fraud cases where citizens were allegedly deceived using fake documents. He stated that such offences require firm action to prevent recurrence.
In Mehsana district, farmers submitted collective representations regarding discrepancies in land records following resurvey and changes in recorded land area. The Chief Minister directed district officials to complete verification and ensure timely correction of land records after measurement.
