New Delhi, March 25 (NationPress) Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda expressed his support for the recent approval of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill, 2026, in Gujarat. He emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the government is dedicated to eradicating discrimination and ensuring equal rights for every citizen.

The Gujarat Legislative Assembly approved the UCC Bill, 2026, on Tuesday. This legislation aims to create a unified legal structure governing civil issues such as marriage, divorce, maintenance, and inheritance across various communities, regardless of their religious affiliations.

The state administration outlined that this law is intended to promote equality before the law and to address the inequalities caused by religion-specific personal laws. It clarified that the Code is applicable solely to civil matters and does not interfere with personal religious beliefs or practices.

In response to this development, Nadda stated on X, "Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, the BJP government is firmly committed to eliminating all forms of discrimination among citizens and providing equal rights for everyone through the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC)."

This initiative positions Gujarat alongside states that are making legislative moves toward a Uniform Civil Code, following Uttarakhand, while Goa has long had a unified civil law framework.

Nadda further affirmed, "It is uplifting that, after Uttarakhand, the recent passage of the Uniform Civil Code bill in Gujarat is a significant advancement. I extend my sincere congratulations to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel ji and all legislators who endorsed this bill."

Taking a subtle jab at the Opposition, the Union Minister remarked, "Catering to any specific community by offering special rights, fueled by the pursuit of vote banks and the promotion of appeasement policies, undermines democracy."

Through the Uniform Civil Code and under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, Nadda affirmed that the Bharatiya Janata Party is dedicated to the advancement of all with the motto of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.'
