Gurugram, March 19 (NationPress) The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has ramped up its efforts against illegal encroachments and will eliminate all unauthorised structures in Sector-29 and other parts of the city within a span of 10 days to address the escalating problem of encroachment in Leisure Valley Park and nearby areas, officials announced on Wednesday.
GMDA's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Shyamal Misra, recently visited the park and highlighted the issue of encroachments on government-owned land.
He also instructed that the park and its facilities should be maintained for public use.
Concerns regarding Gurugram's Sector-29 have also been raised by local Advocate Ravinder Jain, a member of the District Grievance Committee.
Taking prompt action, GMDA's District Town Planner (DTP)-cum-Nodal Officer for Encroachments in Gurugram, R.S. Batth, along with officers from the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), inspected various sites in Sector-29.
Over 100 unauthorised jhuggies (slums) were discovered encroaching on government land adjacent to the Leisure Valley Park.
Prior notices had been issued to the slum residents instructing them to vacate the area, but compliance was lacking.
During the inspection, it was also observed that shopkeepers in a Booth Market in Gurugram's Sector-29 were using public space as their private area, occupying five times their designated shop areas.
Moreover, it was reported that buses were illegally parked in the area designated for visitor parking in Leisure Valley Park.
These buses were stationed without proper authorization, encroaching on the designated parking space.
R.S. Baath directed all violators to clear their encroachments within two days.
HSVP officials will also be serving notices to all offenders who are violating regulations.
During the inspection on Wednesday, R.S. Batth, along with the enforcement wing of GMDA and officials from HSVP Estate Office-2, was present.
“Sector-29 is a central hub in Gurugram and Leisure Valley Park is a significant landmark of the city. We will ensure all necessary efforts are taken to clear these critical areas of encroachments. All relevant departments will work together to address the situation within the next 10 days,” Batth stated.
