Gurugram, March 23 (NationPress) The prime suspect arrested in connection with a liquor contractor's murder case sustained injuries due to a police retaliatory shooting when he attempted to escape custody late at night, according to police reports on Saturday.

The suspect, Tekchand alias Mohit, was apprehended by the Gurugram police concerning the murder of Baljeet Singh, a liquor contractor, who was killed during a business dispute, along with two others injured on Tuesday evening, police stated.

Baljeet's accomplice, Mohit, was also taken into custody by the police from Dhankot village on Thursday.

During interrogation, authorities discovered that Tekchand was responsible for the murder, while Mohit had financially assisted him and the other accomplices.

After his arrest, Tekchand was presented before the court and subsequently placed on a seven-day police remand for further inquiries.

While in custody, Tekchand revealed to police that he had concealed a mobile phone in Karnal, which he had used during the crime.

On Thursday at approximately 10:30 p.m., acting on the suspect's information, the police team transported Tekchand to Karnal to retrieve the mobile device. Upon arrival, the police instructed the suspect to surrender the phone; however, Tekchand drew a pistol from his hiding place and fired at the police team. A police officer narrowly avoided the gunfire as the suspect attempted to escape while shooting.

In response, police fired back, injuring the suspect in the knee.

The police successfully restrained Tekchand and transported him to a hospital for medical care.

During this confrontation, three shots were fired by the suspect and two by the police, Kumar noted.

A case has been registered against the suspect under the appropriate legal sections at the Madhuban police station in Karnal.
