Gurugram, April 28 (NationPress) - A team from the Gurugram crime branch has apprehended two individuals suspected of opening fire on a victim due to a longstanding feud, as reported by police on Monday.
The suspects were named as Amit, who resides in Delhi, and Mohit, known as Kingi, a resident of Bhim Nagar, Gurugram.
Law enforcement officials have seized a country-made pistol, a live cartridge, and a motorcycle used during the incident from the suspects.
According to police reports, on April 22, a man lodged a complaint at the Gurugram city police station, stating that he had visited his uncle and father in the Bhim Nagar area on April 21, accompanied by friends.
As he was returning from visiting friends, he paused at Bhim Nagar Chowk to enjoy some ice cream.
At that moment, his neighbor Suraj arrived with friends and began conversing with him.
During this interaction, Suraj and his companions became enraged, started hurling insults, and attempted to kill the complainant by firing a shot.
The bullet struck the complainant's arm.
Suraj and his associates fired several additional rounds, but the victim managed to survive while the suspects fled the scene.
Following this report, a case was registered under relevant legal provisions at the Gurugram city police station.
During the investigation, police apprehended the suspects at Sector-12 Chowk, Gurugram, on Sunday.
During questioning, it was revealed that the accused had a vendetta against the complainant due to the murder of Suraj's nephew.
The police stated, "The accused duo is currently in police custody for further examination."
In a separate incident, Gurugram police also arrested a fugitive who had been on the run for 25 years, for whom a reward of Rs 10,000 had been announced.
The suspect, identified as Thapa, also known as Rajkumar, hails from Nepal.
Police noted that on October 2, 1997, a case was filed against him under the Arms Act at the Gurugram city police station.
Although Thapa was arrested, he failed to report back to the police after securing bail and was subsequently labeled a proclaimed offender by the court, leading to the reward for his capture.
After extensive investigation, police apprehended him near Sahara Mall, Gurugram, on Monday.
During interrogation, it emerged that he had been evading law enforcement by frequently changing his name and residing in various locations in Nepal and Assam.
According to Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar, "Records indicate that six cases against the accused are pending in Gurugram, encompassing multiple charges, including the Arms Act and robbery. The investigation is ongoing."
