Gwalior Marks the 100th Birth Anniversary of Ex-PM Vajpayee as a Day of Pride

Bhopal, Dec 25 (NationPress) Gwalior, the birthplace of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is set to commemorate his 100th birth anniversary as a Day of Pride on Wednesday.
A cultural event will take place, featuring an exhibition that showcases the life of the former PM at the Dattopant Thengadi Auditorium of Agricultural University in Gwalior.
In addition to the exhibition, a short film highlighting Vajpayee's life will be presented during the event.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will honor eight distinguished individuals from Gwalior who have made significant contributions in various fields, including environment and sports.
The honored personalities include litterateur and educationist Jagdish Tomar, International Hockey player Karishma Yadav, Yoga instructor Akhilesh Pachauri, senior physician S. N. Iyengar, and environmentalist Padma Shri Baba Seva Singh.
The Swarg Ashram, a non-governmental organization dedicated to serving the destitute and the Udbhav Sports and Culture Association, which promotes sports and cultural events internationally, will also receive the 'Gwalior Samman.'
As part of the celebrations, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated an exhibition at the BJP headquarters on Tuesday evening to showcase the accomplishments of former PM Vajpayee.
This exhibition emphasizes his achievements from his early years and illustrates the BJP's political journey, evolving from just two seats in 1984 to securing power at the national level.
A major event will be held in Chhatarpur, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Ken-Betwa river linking national project, marking India's first interlinking of rivers initiative under the national perspective plan.
During this event, PM Modi will unveil a commemorative stamp and coin celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of former PM Vajpayee.
Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate a floating solar project at Omkareshwar in the Khandwa district.
This project is anticipated to contribute to reducing carbon emissions and advance the government's goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2070.
Madhya Pradesh, the home state of former PM Vajpayee, played a crucial role in his political journey, as he was elected to the Lok Sabha twice (1971 from Gwalior and 1991 from Vidisha).
He passed away on August 16, 2018, in New Delhi.
