Haryana clears ₹304 crore industrial park in Ambala under BHAVYA scheme
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
The Haryana government on Wednesday, 29 July approved the proposal for a state-of-the-art industrial park at IMT Ambala under the Centre's flagship Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana (BHAVYA) scheme, marking a significant step in the state's push to attract large-scale manufacturing investment. The project, spread across 108.58 acres, carries an estimated investment of ₹304.10 crore and will now be submitted to the Government of India for final approval.
How the Approval Came Through
The green light was granted at a meeting of the state-level committee (SLC) chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi in Chandigarh. The committee examined the proposal's technical, financial, and infrastructural dimensions before recommending it under the BHAVYA framework. Commissioner and Secretary (Industries and Commerce) Amit Kumar Agrawal confirmed that the proposed park satisfies the scheme's mandatory eligibility conditions — including contiguous encumbrance-free land, strong multimodal connectivity, and readiness for rapid implementation.
What the Industrial Park Will Include
Designed as a fully integrated manufacturing ecosystem, the park will feature 256 industrial plots, 15 ready-built factory sheds, warehousing facilities, common facility centres, worker housing, and a skill development centre. Infrastructure provisions include dedicated power supply, water treatment facilities, a common effluent treatment plant (CETP), an internal road network, and extensive green spaces — positioning it as a plug-and-play destination for investors.
About the BHAVYA Scheme
BHAVYA is a central government initiative aimed at creating 100 world-class industrial parks across India, backed by a total outlay of ₹33,660 crore over six years. The scheme targets investment-ready infrastructure that reduces entry barriers for manufacturers and supports India's broader industrial competitiveness. Haryana's Ambala proposal is among the projects being considered under this national push.
Implementation and Coordination
The project will be executed through NICDC Haryana Multimodal Logistic Hub Project Ltd, an existing special purpose vehicle jointly held by NICDC and HSIIDC, in line with BHAVYA guidelines. Chief Secretary Rastogi emphasised the need for strong interdepartmental coordination to ensure the state's proposal is processed swiftly at the national level.
Expected Impact on Northern Haryana
Officials say the industrial park is projected to serve as a catalyst for large-scale investment, manufacturing expansion, logistics development, and employment generation across northern Haryana. This comes amid Haryana's sustained effort to consolidate its standing as one of India's preferred manufacturing destinations — a position it has built on the back of its proximity to the National Capital Region (NCR) and established industrial corridors.
