In an interview with IANS, Dashrath Yadav shared, "For the last 25-30 years, I have been living in a kutcha house with my family. I earned a living driving a school bus, never imagining that I would one day reside in a pucca house with my family. This dream came true thanks to our esteemed Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

Dashrath mentioned that he learned about PMAY through the diligent efforts of the local MLA and councillor. With their guidance, he accessed the benefits of the scheme, built his own pucca house, and now enjoys a better quality of life with his family.

"I am immensely thankful to Prime Minister Modi for this initiative," he expressed.

His wife, Sonu Bai Yadav, also voiced her appreciation. She reminisced about the struggles they endured while living in a kutcha house with their daughter.

"Life was filled with challenges," she stated.

"However, since Prime Minister Modi introduced this scheme for the underprivileged and middle class, millions of families like ours have benefited. Today, I am incredibly happy to reside with my family in our own pucca house. I am truly grateful to the Prime Minister for making this a reality.

Launched on June 25, 2015, PMAY is a flagship initiative of the Modi government aimed at ensuring affordable housing for all. The scheme set a goal to build 1.12 crore houses for eligible families in urban areas.

In addition to constructing homes, PMAY also emphasizes empowerment, including many beneficiaries such as women, single mothers, widows, and individuals from marginalized communities. Over 2.67 lakh houses have been specifically approved for women, and 90 houses have been allocated to transgender individuals.

Recently, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) sanctioned the construction of an extra 3.53 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0). This expansion encompasses 10 states and Union Territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
