Karnataka: Man Assaults Stray Dog, Faces Public Fury

Ramanagara, Dec 14 (NationPress) In an unbelievable and disturbing incident, a man sexually assaulted a stray dog in Karnataka's Ramanagara district on Saturday.
According to the police, members of the public witnessed the man engaging in this unnatural act with the stray dog on Sathanur road near Channapatna town. The crowd confronted the man and subsequently handed him over to the authorities.
Reports indicate that the dog was tied up and the suspect was apprehended in the act of assaulting the animal.
The police confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody.
The individual has been identified as Basava, and officials are currently interrogating him. However, they have yet to file charges as the witnesses who brought him in have declined to submit a formal complaint.
This incident has sparked outrage among animal rights advocates, prompting police to consider initiating a suo motu case.
In a related case, a young man was reportedly charged with an FIR for attempting to sexually assault a stray dog while intoxicated in Chikkamagaluru district. This incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Jayapura police station.
Footage of the youth's vulgar behavior towards street dogs was captured on CCTV, leading the police to pursue the case after a video of the event gained traction on social media.
In another alarming case of animal cruelty, an individual in Shirva, Udupi district, was accused of dragging a dog for over six kilometers while it was tied to his scooter.
This incident occurred in broad daylight and resulted in a police complaint filed by an animal welfare organization. The authorities conducted an investigation and arrested the perpetrator for riding without a helmet.
The accused was identified as Abdul Khader. The police have charged him under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Section 325 for causing harm to the animal and have also invoked the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
