New Delhi, March 22 (NationPress) On the eve of unveiling the Delhi Budget for 2025-26, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will conduct the traditional pre-budget 'Kheer Ceremony' on Monday, officially commencing the Budget Session, as per an official announcement.
She is set to present her second consecutive Delhi Budget on March 24.
CM Gupta initiated the 'Kheer Ceremony' last year, preparing the traditional Indian sweet, offering it to Lord Ram, and then distributing it among all contributors involved in the budget preparations as well as the general public.
This ceremony symbolizes a distinctive beginning to the financial proceedings in the Assembly, blessed by divine favor.
During last year's pre-budget celebration, the Chief Minister stated: “This is the first time such a ceremony has been held in Delhi. Kheer ki mithas se budget. It has been dedicated to Lord Ram and will be shared with those who provided their insights.”
In the buildup to the 2025-26 Budget, the Chief Minister engaged in extensive consultations at the Delhi Secretariat with gig workers, farmers, representatives from rural sectors, and labor organizations.
“Public involvement is the greatest asset of a flourishing Delhi,” the Chief Minister emphasized while conducting separate meetings with each group.
She expressed the government's aim to introduce a Budget that mirrors the aspirations of all demographics.
Participants shared their experiences and voiced their concerns, suggestions, and expectations, as stated in an official release.
The Chief Minister personally interacted with attendees, attentively listening and assuring them that their feedback would take precedence in the forthcoming budget.
Moreover, the Chief Minister has indicated plans to unveil several initiatives aimed at women and girls in the upcoming Budget for 2026-27, which she will present in the Assembly on March 24.
She discussed her government's intentions to incorporate women-centric programs in the Budget during her participation in a ‘Nari Utsav’ event at the Nirmal Chhaya Complex, where she honored the contributions and strength of women in nation-building.
She asserted that women, through their unwavering dedication and sense of duty, are playing pivotal roles in various sectors, steering the country towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
