The Regional Meteorological Centre located in Kolkata's Alipore has predicted additional rainfall throughout the day and continuing into Wednesday. There is also a likelihood of rain across all of West Bengal. An 'Orange Alert' has been issued for seven districts in South Bengal.
The forecast extends beyond just rainfall. Isolated areas may experience gusty winds blowing at speeds of 50 to 60 km per hour.
A 'Yellow Alert' has been issued for Kolkata and the broader South Bengal region. In Kolkata, gusty winds ranging from 40 to 50 km per hour are anticipated today. Heavy rainfall is expected in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, and Alipurduar districts in the north. The rainy conditions are expected to continue in South Bengal districts until Thursday, with temperatures forecasted to rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius following that.
"An east-west trough stretches from North-East Bihar to Manipur, traversing northern Bangladesh, Meghalaya, and South-East Assam. Another active trough extends from Bihar through Jharkhand to Gangetic West Bengal. The official indicated that the sky is likely to remain overcast all day on Tuesday. Storms, rain, and gusty winds may occur in the afternoon. The maximum and minimum temperatures are anticipated to be around 32 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Since Tuesday morning, light rain has begun in Bankura district. Additionally, intermittent rain since Monday evening has contributed to a slight decrease in temperatures across various locations.
