New Delhi, Feb 28 (NationPress) The parents of the RG Kar Medical College doctor, who tragically lost her life due to rape and murder on the hospital grounds on August 9 last year, have publicly stated that the Mamata Banerjee-led state government is accountable for their daughter's unfortunate demise. They further accused the state government of shifting blame and not providing justice, even one year after this shocking incident that resonated across the nation.
Following a meeting with the CBI director regarding the ongoing investigation into the crime, the parents voiced their concerns. They traveled to Delhi specifically to discuss their situation with the agency.
"We had a discussion with CBI Director Praveen Sood about the ruling from the Sealdah Court. We also sought clarification on the actions taken by the CBI thus far and requested that he ensure my daughter receives the justice she deserves. The supplementary chargesheet, which was meant to be submitted in court, was also on our agenda," the victim’s father explained.
Expressing frustration over procedural setbacks, he said, "We have yet to receive my daughter’s death certificate, and we implored the CBI director to assist us in obtaining it. He promised us his support."
The bereaved parents criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her recent comments, where she blamed the CBI for mishandling the case. "Mamata Banerjee is deceiving the public and voters. She has never questioned why her own police did not act swiftly. Instead, she continuously criticizes the CBI and other agencies," the father remarked.
He also accused the state government of deliberately trying to obscure the case. "Mamata Banerjee’s police took no action for four days after my daughter's death. She instructed everyone involved to remain silent and even arranged for my daughter's body to be cremated at 2:00 a.m. that night."
Suggesting a larger conspiracy, he stated that the Chief Minister must be held accountable for the extensive delay in justice.
"As both CM and health minister, she had the responsibility to safeguard my daughter but did not succeed. I believe a larger plot is behind this crime, and she bears responsibility for it."
The body of the 31-year-old second-year postgraduate student, found on August 9 inside a seminar hall of the hospital, revealed multiple lacerations and wounds according to the police.
