Mumbai, March 26 (NationPress) The ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ initiative has officially launched with a significant goal of providing special kits to Muslims and other minority groups during major festive seasons, beginning with Eid.
In Mumbai, the campaign commenced on Wednesday with the distribution of Eid kits to children at Islamic schools, with the objective of reaching 25,000 families across the city before the Eid celebrations.
Initiated by the BJP, the ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ campaign seeks to promote the Central government’s welfare initiatives within the Muslim community. This program is unique due to its emphasis on religious events such as Ramzan and Eid, times when these gestures are likely to be appreciated.
The goal is to connect with a total of 32 lakh Muslim families and collaborate with 32,000 mosques nationwide.
While some consider this outreach as a favorable and inclusive measure, others believe it is politically driven, part of the BJP’s broader strategy to bolster its support among Muslims. Regardless of the political implications, the campaign is certainly capturing attention.
Speaking to IANS, BJP leader Wasim Khan stated: “Prime Minister Modi is dedicated to the 140 crore citizens of India. This is why he has ensured that special Eid kits, which include Sevaiya (a traditional sweet), reach 32 lakh families who are in need. Many underprivileged families cannot afford such delights during the festive time, but the Prime Minister has considered them. Even if he cannot visit every home, his supporters - like us - are advancing his mission. We have chosen 1,000 children and other needy individuals to receive these kits. While the kits contain essential items, we have also included clothing for the children, which was not initially planned,” he said.
Yakub, one of the recipients, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi.
“Your motto, ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas,’ is evident in your efforts to unite all communities, including Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians. You have demonstrated true leadership by ensuring that Muslim families, particularly the impoverished, can celebrate Eid joyfully. The kits, which include traditional items like vermicelli and clothing, are a considerate gesture that brightens Eid for those who find it challenging to celebrate. We, the Muslim community, are profoundly thankful. If I were to rate this initiative, I would give it 100 out of 100 for its excellent execution,” Yakub remarked, applauding the Prime Minister.
The BJP’s objective is to deliver these Eid kits to 32 lakh underprivileged Muslim families across the country, ensuring that even the most economically challenged individuals can celebrate the festival meaningfully.
To aid the distribution, 32,000 workers from the Minority Morcha will partner with 32,000 mosques nationwide, further embedding the initiative within local communities.
