Key Takeaways
Agartala, Feb 6 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, emphasized on Friday the significant impact of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in cultivating a responsible and socially aware future generation. He highlighted that effective social initiatives can be accomplished without political interference.
While chairing a gathering with leaders of Janajati (tribal) NGOs in Agartala, Saha noted the essential contributions of grassroots organisations in society, especially in fostering the growth of children and youth.
“I am delighted to be part of this meeting. The efforts of voluntary groups for the community's welfare are truly admirable. You are paving the way for our future leaders,” he remarked.
He reassured the NGO representatives that the state government would provide assistance within the boundaries of existing laws and guidelines.
“I will address your concerns with the Tribal Welfare Minister and relevant officials,” Saha assured the NGO representatives.
Stressing the importance of caring for children in hostels, Saha mentioned that special attention is necessary for their upbringing.
“We must ensure that there are no deficiencies in the care and progress of children living in hostels. The government will consistently support you in this matter,” he stated.
The Chief Minister highlighted that NGOs play a pivotal role in shaping young minds, asserting that children should receive not only formal education but also human values and a sense of social responsibility.
“Education at this stage must concentrate on character development, social awareness, and a sense of duty towards society,” he added.
Saha pointed out that social service is fundamental for nation-building and does not inherently require political engagement.
Referencing the journey of President Droupadi Murmu, he illustrated how members of the tribal community can serve the nation with dedication and responsibility.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a Viksit Bharat by 2047 places a unique responsibility on today’s students, who will be pivotal in achieving that vision while also reaping its benefits.
Describing education as a bridge, Saha expressed, “Education illuminates our path from darkness to light, ignorance to knowledge, and falsehood to truth. Alongside academic instruction, moral values must also be instilled in our children.”
Representatives from various NGOs across Tripura attended the meeting.
