Puducherry, March 1 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi escalated his political critique of the Congress party on Sunday, alleging that it has turned Puducherry into an ATM to benefit a single family in Delhi. He firmly stated that the union territory will not support Congress and its allies in future elections.

During a public meeting, he accused the Congress-DMK coalition of hindering progress and fostering corruption and a decline in administration.

While addressing his supporters, PM Modi claimed that under the Congress–DMK administration, governance in Puducherry declined sharply, with corruption rampant. He asserted that crime rates rose and social welfare systems crumbled, which negatively impacted the poor.

“The citizens of Puducherry endured significant hardships during the Congress and DMK administration,” he remarked.

Referring to the public distribution system, the Prime Minister noted that families struggled to obtain essential goods.

“There were instances when ration shops lacked rice. Congress treated Puducherry merely as an ATM,” he charged, eliciting applause from the audience.

Extending his critique to the DMK’s governance in Tamil Nadu, PM Modi accused the party's political culture of being steeped in “corruption and deceit.”

He pointed out that both Congress and the DMK have consistently obstructed Puducherry’s aspirations for growth. “Whenever Puducherry attempts to boost its development, Congress and DMK place obstacles in its path. They have acted as speed bumps on the road to progress,” he stated.

Framing the political contest as a choice between past governance and future growth, the Prime Minister urged voters to thoroughly evaluate the track records of the parties seeking power again.

“Those who previously neglected Puducherry are asking for another opportunity. The populace must remember their past performance,” he commented.

Highlighting what he termed the successes of the “double-engine government,” PM Modi asserted that cooperation between the central and local governments had enhanced infrastructure, improved welfare distribution, and promoted greater transparency.

In closing, he urged voters to reject what he labeled as divisive and corrupt politics. “Puducherry deserves transparent governance, accelerated growth, and trustworthy leadership. Together, we will construct the finest Puducherry,” he concluded.

PM Modi later shared his address on his X handle, stating, "Congress has transformed Puducherry into an ATM for one family in Delhi. Therefore, Puducherry will never support Congress and its allies."
