New Delhi, Oct 2 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to take part in the Dussehra festivities hosted by the IP Extension Ramlila Committee in the capital on Thursday.
Officials have confirmed that the Prime Minister is expected to arrive at the venue in East Delhi’s Patparganj area around 6 p.m., where he will engage in the traditional Ravana Dahan ceremony, which represents the victory of good over evil.
This marks another occasion where the Prime Minister is participating in the city's Dussehra celebrations.
In the previous year, he was present at the Luv Kush Ramlila at the historic Red Fort grounds in Delhi alongside President Droupadi Murmu, where both initiated the ceremonial arrow to ignite the effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkaran.
While addressing the crowd, PM Modi emphasized the festival’s enduring message of courage, peace, and the triumph of truth.
In 2023, he also participated in the Dussehra celebrations at the DDA ground in Dwarka, Delhi.
During that event, he encouraged attendees to adopt ten pledges, including the commitment to uplift at least one underprivileged family. The Prime Minister was received with traditional honors before the much-anticipated Lanka Dahan ritual, with thousands gathering at the site.
PM Modi commenced his speech with chants of Siyavar Ramchandra Ki Jai and conveyed his wishes for Navratri and Vijayadashami.
He urged the people to work against social evils like casteism and regionalism that disrupt social harmony.
Highlighting the significance of shastra pooja on Vijayadashami, the Prime Minister noted that in India, weapons are revered not for aggression but for safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.
This year, the celebrations at IP Extension are anticipated to attract a massive crowd, prompting authorities to implement extensive security measures in preparation for the Prime Minister's visit.
