Ghaziabad, March 24 (NationPress) A significant controversy emerged when Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman labeled the 16th-century Rajput monarch, Rana Sanga, a "traitor."

The comments incited indignation, prompting former Congress figure Acharya Pramod Krishnam to call for an apology from the leader of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav.

In a statement to IANS, Acharya Pramod Krishnam remarked, "Akhilesh Yadav should apologize, as no leader in his party can make such declarations without his consent. To term Rana Sanga a traitor is a disrespect to Rajasthan, Chittorgarh, Mewar, and the entire country."

Previously, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav brushed off the backlash, contending that if BJP representatives can interpret history selectively by discussing figures like Aurangzeb, then Suman's comments should also be part of the historical narrative.

Suman voiced his opinion in the Rajya Sabha on March 21, asserting that Indian Muslims do not idolize Babur but revere Prophet Muhammad and the Sufi tradition. He questioned why Hindus do not admonish Rana Sanga, claiming that the Mewar ruler had invited Babur to India to conquer Ibrahim Lodi.

Krishnam also responded to stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra's recent remarks referring to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde as a "traitor" during one of his performances. Kamra's comment, "Meri nazar se tum dekho to gaddar nazar wo aaye. Haaye," was intended to amuse, but has drawn intense criticism from Shiv Sena, which is now pursuing legal actions against the comedian, including his arrest.

Krishnam stated, "It is the comedian’s role to entertain the audience. As for the reactions from Shinde’s supporters, that is their choice. Shiv Sena has a history of responding this way—anyone who speaks out against them will face repercussions."

Shiv Sena affiliates also issued threats to comedian Kunal Kamra after their party members vandalized a studio in Mumbai and a hotel following the controversy over his joke about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Krishnam further commented on the upcoming Bihar elections, asserting, "The people of Bihar do not desire politics centered on caste. The BJP-led coalition will emerge victorious with a majority."
