Rajasthan's Tourism Unit Policy 2024 Receives Praise from Travel Industry Leaders

Jaipur, Dec 5 (NationPress) Kuldeep Singh Chandela and Virendra Singh, President and Secretary General of the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR), expressed their appreciation on Thursday for the state government's emphasis on sustainable tourism development.

They also applauded the government’s initiatives to meet the changing demands of the industry, emphasizing the policy’s creative features, including the establishment of new categories such as eco-tourism units, film cities, heritage restaurants, hotel housing, and indoor/outdoor play areas.

These initiatives reflect a strong dedication to boosting Rajasthan’s international tourism attractiveness by diversifying and expanding its offerings.

Gaj Singh Alsisar, Secretary General of the Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA), commended the financial incentives embedded in the policy, including exemptions from stamp duty, conversion charges, and development charges under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme 2024.

He pointed out that these incentives are poised to draw substantial investments into the sector.

Moreover, provisions such as concessional bar licenses for heritage hotels and restaurants and freehold lease opportunities for heritage properties exceeding 300 square meters are anticipated to safeguard Rajasthan’s cultural legacy while enhancing the tourist experience.

Tarun Bansal and Adhiraj Shahpura, president and general secretary of the Hotels & Restaurant Association of Rajasthan (HRAR), respectively, highlighted the strategic measures outlined in the policy, like the development of integrated tourism villages, motel-way-side amenities, and resort housing.

They noted that these initiatives would greatly enhance tourist infrastructure. The policy’s emphasis on rural tourism and support for tourism startups signifies a commitment to empowering local communities and fostering entrepreneurship.

They also praised the government’s accomplishments under the Rising Rajasthan initiative, where over 1,000 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) totaling ₹78,000 crore have been signed, highlighting the state’s ambition to emerge as a leader in tourism and hospitality.

Mahendra Singh Rathore and Mohan Singh, president and general secretary of the Rajasthan Association of Tour Operators (RATO), conveyed optimism regarding the transformative potential of the policy. They reaffirmed their association’s dedication to collaborating closely with the government to ensure effective implementation.

Additionally, they commended the waiver of motor vehicle tax for coaches with a capacity of 22 seats or more, labeling it a necessary and progressive measure to support the transportation sector, enhance efficiency, and stimulate growth.

This all-encompassing policy epitomizes Rajasthan’s resolve to establish itself as a global tourism leader while promoting economic opportunities and sustainable development, remarked tourism stakeholders.
