Patna, Nov 6 (NationPress) As the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections approaches, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh vehemently criticized the RJD, claiming the party has a longstanding tradition of fostering violence within the state.
Speaking at a rally in Patahi (East Champaran), Singh emphasized, “The culture of the RJD has always been steeped in violence. They even involve children in their campaigns by having them sing songs glorifying weapons.”
He highlighted that Bihar experienced rampant fear and lawlessness during the RJD's governance, making it a state synonymous with “jungle raj” across India.
“Criminals ruled the streets. Residents were terrified to go out after sundown. Bihar does not wish to relive that dark chapter,” he asserted.
Singh dismissed allegations from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding vote rigging as unfounded attempts to mislead the electorate.
“Congress officials are persistently trying to confuse the public with baseless claims regarding 'vote theft.' These allegations are simply distractions,” he stated.
In his address, he praised the NDA government’s accomplishments, including the construction of toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission, the launch of Vande Bharat trains, enhancements at railway stations, the Ujjwala Yojana, distribution of 5 kg of food grains, and the rise in per capita income.
Singh commended Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and expressed confidence that the NDA would secure another term in Bihar.
“Despite serving as Chief Minister for two decades, he has faced no allegations of corruption. In contrast, today's leaders, often accused of corruption, continue to praise themselves. The citizens of Bihar are gearing up to elect an NDA government with a significant majority,” Singh remarked.
On Thursday, the Defence Minister addressed three consecutive rallies in the Bathnaha, Chiraiya, and Kesariya Assembly constituencies.
The elections in Bihar are occurring in two phases. The first phase concluded on November 6, with the second phase scheduled for November 11. Results will be announced on November 14.
