Real Estate Agent Gunned Down in Daylight Assault in Ranchi

Ranchi, Dec 15 (NationPress) Madhusudan Rai, commonly referred to as Madhu Rai, a prominent real estate entrepreneur, fell victim to a daylight shooting by armed criminals in the Namkum locality of Ranchi on Sunday.

This audacious attack, executed in plain sight on a busy street, instilled fear throughout the city.

Reports indicate that Rai departed from his residence in Rajaulatu Unidih, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Namkum police station, riding a scooter. He was ambushed near Kawali, where the perpetrators shot him and discharged a total of 12 rounds after he fell to the ground. The attackers managed to escape without facing any opposition.

Rai unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Following the incident, his relatives and local residents convened at the location and impeded traffic in protest. Law enforcement eventually dispersed the blockade after prolonged negotiations and transported the body to RIMS for a postmortem examination.

Several high-ranking police officials arrived at the scene to evaluate the circumstances. While an investigation is underway, the underlying motive for the murder remains uncertain. Authorities speculate the assault may be linked to either business rivalry or personal vendetta, given Rai's history of conflicts.

It is worth noting that Rai had been previously targeted; approximately 15 years ago, his wife was murdered during a shooting incident in Rajaulatu stemming from a land dispute. He had also suffered gunshot wounds in 2016.

In a separate incident, the body of Chandravati Devi, a resident of Murkunda Kumhartoli in Jharkhand’s Gumla district, was discovered on Sunday in a forest close to her village, three days after her disappearance.

Chandravati Devi’s son, Sunil Mahato, submitted a missing person report at the local police station on December 12, fearing that she had been kidnapped.

The family accuses villagers of murdering Chandravati, suspecting her of witchcraft. On Saturday, they found shattered bangles and a stack of firewood in the forest, which they promptly reported to the police. Based on this information, the police intensified their search efforts, culminating in the recovery of her body.

The victim’s family asserts that Chandravati had faced harassment for months from certain villagers who branded her as a witch.

Despite lodging a complaint regarding these threats at the Gumla police station, it appears no action was taken.
