Kolkata, Feb 27 (NationPress) The parents of the victim in the R.G. Kar rape and murder case have requested a meeting with the Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to voice their concerns regarding the unwillingness of the investigating officials to provide updates on the case progress.

The victim’s parents departed for Delhi on Thursday morning and intend to reach out to the CBI Director upon arrival. In the national capital, they will also meet with their legal team representing them at the Supreme Court.

Prominent attorney Karuna Nundy is currently advocating for the victim’s family at the apex court, where the next hearing is set for March 17.

Before their trip to Delhi, the victim’s parents spoke to the media, expressing their distress about the CBI’s investigative officials’ handling of the case. They accused the investigating officers of disregarding their phone calls.

“We are heading to New Delhi to consult our lawyer Karuna Nundy. Our legal team, who are representing us at the special court in Kolkata, is also traveling with us. Some senior medical professionals are joining us as well. We plan to visit the CGO complex in New Delhi to attempt to meet the CBI director. Additionally, we will discuss with our lawyers the possibility of transferring the case back to the Calcutta High Court from the Supreme Court,” the victim’s father informed the media prior to their departure.

The victim’s mother highlighted their primary grievance against the CBI is the sluggish pace of the investigation, particularly concerning potential evidence tampering or alteration.

On February 24, the CBI’s attorney informed the special court in Kolkata that the investigation is ongoing and a supplementary charge sheet will be submitted soon. Notably, the special court had recently sentenced the sole convict in the crime, Sanjay Roy, to life imprisonment.
