New Delhi, July 18 (NationPress) - Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, has lauded the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) scientists for their recent milestones and encouraged the scientific community to persist in fortifying the armed forces, as stated by an official on Friday.
During his visit to the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex in Hyderabad, MoS Seth emphasized the pivotal role that DRDO scientists play in the creation of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat through the development of advanced weapon systems.
He highlighted the current security challenges and urged scientists to enhance the strength of the armed forces.
On Thursday, MoS Seth conducted a review of the Missiles and Weapon Systems program being undertaken by the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Research Centre Imarat (RCI), and Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL) within the Missile Cluster Labs.
Seth also toured various operational centers of DRDL including the Astra Mk I & II, Vertically-Launched Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile, and Scramjet Engine facilities, receiving updates on project statuses from Director General (Missiles and Strategic Systems) U. Raja Babu and Director, DRDL G.A. Srinivasa Murthy.
Additionally, he visited several critical work centers at RCI, where Director, RCI, Anindya Biswas briefed him on advancements in the Indigenous Navigation/Aviation Systems, Onboard Computer Division, and Imaging Infra-Red Seeker facilities.
His two-day visit coincided with the successful test-firing of two significant strategic assets – the short-range ballistic missile Prithvi-II and the ballistic missile Agni-I, conducted from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha.
As per the Ministry of Defence, these launches were executed under the auspices of the Strategic Forces Command as part of standard training and validation exercises.
Both missiles successfully achieved all operational goals and technical parameters, according to a statement from the Ministry.
These tests validated critical capabilities, reinforcing the dependability and precision of India's Nuclear-capable delivery systems.
