New Delhi, Jan 11 (NationPress) In a bid to promote the principles of brotherhood and national integration, a collective of Sufi scholars met with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Sunday to discuss their initiatives aimed at popularizing Sufi culture, which they regard as the most effective remedy against radical ideologies.
Chairman of the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council (AISSC), Hazrat Syed Naseruddin Chishty, who is the successor of the current spiritual leader and hereditary custodian of the Ajmer Dargah, noted that NSA Doval expressed his support for their 'Mera Mulk Meri Pehchan' initiative, which seeks to unite various religions for a robust national identity.
“We have initiated a campaign titled 'Mera Mulk, Meri Pehchan' to convey the idea of a singular cultural and civilizational identity, transcending religious differences,” he stated.
This meeting with NSA Doval follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent ceremonial offering of a chadar at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah last month, presented on his behalf by Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju during the 814th annual Urs festival of the revered Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.
Hazrat Syed Naseruddin Chishty further remarked, “We are engaging with communities throughout India, as individuals of all faiths come to dargahs.”
He emphasized that Sufi dargahs have historically served as sanctuaries against radical forces by welcoming diverse faiths.
“Our nation epitomizes our global identity; wherever we go, we are recognized as Indians, transcending religious labels,” he remarked.
“Our mission serves as a vehicle for disseminating Sufi teachings and countering radicalism to foster national unity,” he added.
The Sajjadanashin of the Ajmer Dargah conveyed that the everlasting message of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz is one of compassion: “Love for all and hatred for none. This is the message that our Council seeks to disseminate.”
He mentioned the establishment of the AISSC's Headquarters Office in Delhi's Nizamuddin West.
The events organized on Sunday were also directed at “Promoting Peace in the Nation,” aiming to nurture harmony, unity, and the enduring message of peace as propagated by the esteemed Sufi tradition.
“In today’s socio-cultural landscape, the role of responsible media in promoting the values of brotherhood, tolerance, and national integration is crucial,” he stated.
The event saw the participation of distinguished Sufi scholars and respected Sajjadanashins from across India, who shared insights on preserving peace and communal harmony within the nation.
