Dehradun, March 7 (NationPress) In a show of support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to establish yoga camps in Uttarakhand during the winter months to enhance tourism in the hilly region, spiritual leader and Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has commended the Prime Minister's initiative and has "accepted his suggestions".

This endorsement from Sri Sri Ravi Shankar follows the Prime Minister's brief visit to Uttarakhand on Thursday aimed at promoting tourism in the area.

Many sadhus, saints, and mahants have also voiced their support for PM Modi's appeal.

In a statement to IANS, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar remarked, "PM Modi has provided an excellent suggestion. We will act on his recommendation. We plan to establish yoga camps in regions that experience snowfall. Other countries like Norway, Germany, and Switzerland also have snowfall. If we initiate this in Uttarakhand, it would be a remarkable development."

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi prayed at the Mukhimath Temple situated in Mukhwa village of Uttarkashi district.

Afterward, he addressed a large public gathering following the launch of a track and bike rally in Harshil. He encouraged the organization of conferences and camps to further boost tourism in Uttarakhand.

Emphasizing Uttarakhand's natural beauty, PM Modi stated, "While many parts of the country are shrouded in fog during winters, the hills provide the joy of sunbathing, which can be transformed into a unique opportunity."

He proposed the concept of “Gham Tapo Pariyatan” in Garhwali to inspire individuals from all over the country to visit Uttarakhand in winter.

The Prime Minister specifically urged the corporate sector to engage in winter tourism by organizing meetings, conferences, and exhibitions in the area.

He noted that Uttarakhand presents visitors with abundant opportunities to rejuvenate, maintain fitness through yoga and Ayurveda, and energize themselves.

PM Modi thoroughly advocated for the state in various ways — from promoting "Gham Tapo Pariyatan" (a Garhwali term for sun-basking tourism) and suggesting yoga camps during winter to encouraging corporate seminars, inviting filmmakers for projects, and appealing to social media influencers — all of which are anticipated to have a lasting influence.

He emphasized that winter is the most unique season to experience the true essence of Uttarakhand, offering exhilarating activities like trekking and skiing.

Additionally, he commended the Uttarakhand government's vision for year-round tourism, asserting that it will provide visitors with diverse and enriching experiences.
